Send tips to VCIJ

We’re a statewide news organization dedicated to covering the most important issues facing Virginians.

We look for stories with impact, urgency and emotional punch. As veteran journalists, we shine light on undercovered issues and expose waste, fraud and abuse.

Have a tip for us? We want to hear from you.

Key pieces to telling a good VCIJ story:

  • Does it involve wrong-doing or unethical behavior that affects a large group of people? Who is the victim?

  • Do you have material – emails, papers, computer files, videos - that support and clearly tell a narrative?

  • Does the story show a larger problem with a system, public agency or business?

We conduct follow-up interviews on background with our sources. These confidential conversations give us more information about the story and are not used for publication.
